Wholesale e-commerce platform for a B2B FMCG distributor in Cape Town — Next.js storefront on a MedusaJS commerce backend.
Musafir Store is the online ordering platform for Musafir Cash & Carry, a wholesale distributor serving retailers in Cape Town, South Africa. Trade customers browse the FMCG catalogue and place orders online instead of phoning the warehouse.
The storefront is built with Next.js and React on top of a MedusaJS commerce engine, with a Node.js/Express service layer, MongoDB, Redis caching and TypeScript throughout. Product data and images are managed in the Medusa admin.
The challenge
A wholesale business with a large catalogue and daily trade orders needed a modern ordering platform: real-time inventory, a seamless ordering experience for repeat buyers, and multi-currency support.
What we built
A Next.js storefront backed by MedusaJS, with a Node.js/Express API layer, MongoDB, Redis caching and TypeScript across the codebase. Product catalogue and images are managed from the Medusa admin panel.
